Web Survey Bibliography
Results of students' evaluations of teaching are increasingly used for staff appraisal and for obtaining feedback on teaching in all Hong Kong universities. At the present time evaluation questionnaires are almost always administered by paper-and-pencil methods in the classroom situation. While in some ways this method is efficient in that it allows data to be collected in a group situation and ensures reasonably high response rates, when conducted on a large scale, administration, data processing and reporting are time-consuming, lengthen feedback times and consume large amounts of paper. The project aims to develop and trial an on-line system to capture raw data from evaluation questionnaires and to link this with data processing systems already in place. This will simplify the processes of administration of surveys and eliminate the need for optical scanning of responses. Both ratings and written responses will be obtained in this way.
